Bear Wallow Fish Barrier

Arizona Game and Fish Department

Design and construction of a 4-foot masonry fish barrier on Bear Wallow Creek, an isolated tributary to the Black River on San Carlos Tribal Lands. The purpose of the barrier is to protect native Apache trout in the upper watershed from competition by other exotic trout species. Barrier constructed in May 2007.

 

Conklin Creek Fish Barrier

This project included evaluating the effectiveness of a fish barrier on Conklin Creek, design modifications, and construction oversight. Initial modifications were done in 2008, with further modifications completed in 2009.

 

NO-Bar Ranch Low Water Stream Crossing

An existing road crossing had reduced stream function and resulted in channel incision that restricted the ability for fish passage. The project assessed the existing crossing, designed an effective alternative design, and constructed a new crossing.

 

X-Diamond Ranch LCR Enhancement

Project included assessment and design of bank stabilization and enhancement of the aquatic and riparian habitats along 1 mile of private property along the Little Colorado River.  The establishment of aquatic habitats to benefit an existing “blue ribbon” trout fishery was the primary goal of this project.
